Kansas City Day Two

What a day.  Had breakfast in hotel.  What a busy place.  Had to wait our turn to get a table and chairs.  I sure do hate that.  Anyway, found a brochure of a little town called Brunswick about 1-1/2 hours north of here.  The brochure talked about seeing pecan farms, Laura Ingalls Wilder home, pecan pie and other amenities.  Off we went.  Turns out the person who made the brochure forgot to tell the people in Brunswick tourists would be coming.  The "town" was only a few blocks long and looked more like a ghost town than a tourist trap.  I know pecans aren't in season but thought we might find a cute little restaurant and get a bite to eat, along with that slice of pecan pie.  The closest thing we got to a meal was a ham and cheese sandwich that Hunk and I shared, along with a bag of chips and a couple of Fig Newtons from the Casey's gas station.  It was such a sad, sorry little town.  We queried the lady at Casey's where we could get some pecans, as the "store" next door that had a sign selling pecans was closed (and looked closed for good and not temporarily), she said, oh, don't think she's there today.  Just go down the block and there will be so and so's house and she might have some.  Great...we just turned around and went 1-1/2 hours back to KC.  The day was not for lost though.  Went to a great scrapbook store and Hobby Lobby.  Had lunch at Long John Silvers (for Hunk) and A&W in the same building (for me).  Then we went back to the hotel to rest up for the game tonight.  The temperature was near 90 and humid, so went there to cool off.  Went to the game early.  What a beautiful stadium.  There were so many Twins fans, too.  They were everywhere.  It was a neat thing to be a part of.  Although the Twins didn't play their best game I've ever seen them play, they played well enough to win.  After the game there was a grand display for fireworks too.  It was worth going to the game just for that.  Talked to Becca at the game but didn't join up with her and Katie.  So close, yet so far away...Our seats were good and we sat amongst a good contingent of Minnesota fans.  After the game we got out of the parking quite quickly, but we couldn't manage to find the freeway back to the hotel.  It was a rather weird setup leaving the lot.  Anyway, after stopping for directions, we did manage to get back to the hotel.  We were going to stop at Baskin Robbins for ice-cream, but it was closed, so no treat for me.  Hunk stopped at QT next door to our hotel for ice-cream sandwiches, but that wasn't going to cut it for me. At least he tried.   Now we're ending the day watching college softball playoffs.  I guess we just can't get enough of ball games...
