Kansas City Royals vs Twins Trip

Hunk and I finally decided to take a road trip.  This time we are on the road to Kansas City,MO to see if the Twins can finally win a game.  Got up this a.m. without an alarm, as we are on vacation.  I did a shortened "walk/run," only 20 minutes, showered, finished packing and we were on the road by 8:15.  Did make a stop to see Kristin and Patrick. He let us borrow a Sprint "thingy" so our computer would be wireless on the road.  Wouldn't want to miss keeping up Fish Wrangler and Cafe Restaurant.  Thanks to Patrick for thinking of us.  Also, thank you to Alexa for her sweet (jelly) kiss this morning :).  Good to see Kristin was feeling much better also after her bout with the ickies last week.

Trip was pretty uneventful.  Ate lunch in Clear Lake at Wendy's.  I know, not very original.  Made several pit stops at road side rests just to stretch our legs.  The best rest stop was in Missouri, just over the State Line.  We had been there before on our trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma several years ago.  This time, however, they have a tile mural that was just beautiful.  I had to take a few pictures of that.  Weather is humid but not too warm.  Minnesota weatherman on Weds said there'd be torrential rains going through Iowa.  We did get some dark clouds but no rain.  Got to Missouri around 4:30.  Checked into a nice hotel (Fairfield) so will add points to our card. I should mention that on the way down a car from Minnesota passed us and I think they saw Hunk's Twins hat in the window.  They gave us the thumbs up and pointed at his Twins hat.  At the rest stop I mentioned earlier, the person working there said that several carloads of Minnesotans came through today going to the Twins game.  It is a 4-day road trip for the Twins here, so that could account for the the Twin fans.  In the hotel lobby a couple also from Minnesota suggested going to Ameristar Casino for good barbeque food, so that's where we went.  Hunk got a huge slab of meat and couldn't even help me finish my dinner he was so full.  I had pulled pork open-face sandwich.  It tasted good, but it's just sitting in my stomach right now.  I'm sending Hunk out for some milk and hopefully that will help.  After dinner we went to downtown Kansas City to Crown Plaza.  It is a building of shops right next to Hallmark home office.  They weren't open for tours, as it was so late, but we did get to see their flagship store.  Nothing really special there, just a bigger store than what I usually see.  Hunk got a t-shirt with the picture of a dachshund on the front that says something to the effect that grass doesn't grow under his wiener.  Yes, I'm sure he'll wear it with pride.  Looking forward to the Twins game tomorrow.  Not sure how we'll spend the day, but we usually find something to do.
